NBA PICKS – Saturday February 27th – Super Saturday Betting Bros

The BROS had a shameful weekend of picks last week going 0-3 and now all 3 BROS for the first time all season are in the hole! Good news is someone is going to win this week because Shrey and I (Dan) are both on the opposite side with a max wager on the bet!

Who’s Hot

No one is right now; I (Dan) have the least amount of debt on the board; but Shrey isn’t too far behind him. If that means anything then I guess we are both the hottest pickers at the moment; both with .500 records of 20-20-1. One of us is going to have a losing record and the other is going to have a winning record by the end of the night.

Who’s Cold

Kage is. Still in debt since the first week of the season. if you check back he was Ice Cold starting off the season with multiple losses and hasn’t been able to turn his game around permanently. Better days ahead….unlikely.

Winners/Losers of the NBA Trade Deadline 2016

The BROS give their take on the quiet Trade Deadline and see which teams came out as big winners and which teams chose to stand pat rather than make a splash. If you follow our Instagram page (@SuperBasketballBros) then you’d know that the BROS were on top of all the trades and rumours to the final minute! Here’s what we think!

Winners and Losers.png

Winners:

  • Detroit Pistons
    • Gave up an aging player in Ersan Ilyasova and an oft-injured guard coming off major Achilles injury for a quality stretch 4 WITHOUT HAVING TO SURRENDER A DRAFT PICK!!
    • Tobias Harris should fit well with the Pistons, who got A LOT younger and better with the additions of Donatas Motiejunas and Marcus Thornton.
(Update: Pistons have voided the trade for Motiejunas and Thornton)
    • Starting 5: Drummond – Harris – Morris/Johnson – Caldwell-Pope – Jackson… did I mention that they’re all signed long-term and are under 26 years old!
    • The team fits the mold of the type of offence SVG runs, and he likes his perimeter shooters.
  • Miami Heat
    • While the Heat didn’t really make a big splash for a free agent, they were able to move some salaries and now sit under both the hard and soft salary caps.
    • If they had remained over the salary cap, they would’ve been had to pay a hefty tax fine for being a repeat offender.
    • Didn’t have to give up any valuable assets or retain a bad contract to move the salary.
  • Washington Wizards
    • Great last minute addition of Markieff Morris and they got rid of players who had fallen out of favour with the Wizards in Kris Humpries and Dajuan Blair.
    • Markieff should excel in Washington with players like Alan Anderson and Jared Dudley to mentor him. I think he’ll fit right in, especially with him having a chance at the playoffs.

Losers:

  • Orlando Magic:
    • Traded Tobias Harris to the Pistons and in returned received…. No quality assets.
    • Tobias should’ve fetched a first rd pick… but the Magic traded him in a move to save money rather than retain future assets.
    • Wonder if the Raptors should’ve just offered their package of a first rd pick + Patrick Patterson. Harris would’ve fit well in TO, but has a hefty contract.
    • They have now created a timeshare between Elfrid Payton, whom the Magic consider a building block for the future, and Brandon Jennings.
  • Brooklyn Nets
    • Hired a GM 4 hours before the NBA trade deadline….
    • One of the teams that HAD TO BE ACTIVE during the deadline!
    • They had the right players to trade for a ton of assets: Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez (potentially).
    • Sean Marks: “I need time to assess the team before making any moves.”
      • Why hire a GM hours before the trade deadline? Why wasn’t this made a priority?
  • Toronto Raptors
    • After last year’s EMBARASING first round playoff exit, it would’ve made sense for the Raptors to make a move considering:
      1. The Raptors bench could use another wing defender with DeMarre Carroll and James Johnson out indefinitely without a timeframe.
      2. The Raptors possess FOUR 1st Rd Draft picks in the next 2 years!
    • Wizards made Dudley available based on a few reports, and with their acquisition of Markieff Morris, I believe they would’ve been more inclined to move Dudley.
    • Raps should’ve pushed hard for a wing player and Dudley would’ve fit nicely with his ability to play the 4.
  • Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings
    • Had the assets and players to make a big time splash during the deadline, but decided to stand pat.
    • Jeff Teague and Al Horford were made available by the Hawks while the Celtics were reportedly in talks to acquire Dwight Howard.
    • The Kings had reportedly made Ben McLemore, Marco Belinelli and Omri Casspi available. All 3 would’ve fetched a solid pick in return.
    • All 3 teams, including the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets, chose to stand pat but could be waiting for after the season to make the big move… possibly during the NBA Draft.

Super Saturday Betting Bros – February 20th 2016 – FREE NBA Picks

Who’s Hot

Shrey and Dan both have winning records; in fact they have the same record. Both of them have the same picks tonight and are looking to bet big! They both have maximum bets of 5.5 Units. Let’s see if they hit the Golden State -3.5 pick tonight.

Who’s Cold

Kage is still in the hole…a big hole. He needs a rebound game to get back into the race. He needs a big second half of the season and hopefully he used the All Star break to rethink his betting processes. For now his picks are a fade but you never know how he will react after the All Star Break

Be sure to check out our latest YouTube video. The Super Saturday Betting Bros will be posting their picks every Saturday (obviously) and have named the template after the special day of the week.

This article is purely for discussion. It compares two Toronto Raptors teams with identical records during different seasons. The focus of this article will be on the “Core 4”.

The Compton Kid

Demar

DeMar DeRozan 14-15’: 31 games, 33.4mpg, 18.2ppg, 39.6%FG, 20%3pt, 4.3rpg, 1.3spg, 16.0 PER

DeMar DeRozan 15-16’: 52 games, 36.1mpg, 23.4ppg, 44.7%FG, 33.7%3pt, 4.3rpg, 1.0spg, 21.66 PER

During the 2014-2015 season DeMar DeRozan faced something he had never encountered before— a serious injury. Prior to the injury he hadn’t been out for longer than five games, the groin injury caused him to miss 21. Just looking at the stats, almost every statistic is up. DeMar has truly put on a show this year and shown he deserves to be recognized as an all-star in this league. I—like many Raptor fans found myself laughing during the summer of 2015 when there were rumours about DeMar planning to demand a max deal. A max deal? DeMar? Sure he was an all-star in a weak Eastern Conference, but he didn’t deserve anywhere near the max… at the time. Any questions or qualms Raptor fans had about DeMar going into the season have to have been pushed aside by now, he has played like a top 5 SG in the league this year and could’ve even been an all-star starter too. I won’t dive in deeper into this, let the stats speak for itself. Is DeMar DeRozan worth the max? (See Raptors Corner video below)

The East Starter at Guard

klow

Kyle Lowry 14-15’:52 games, 35.1mpg, 18.8ppg, 42%FG, 33.1%3pt, 7.2apg, 1.6spg, 20.50 PER

Kyle Lowry 15-16’: 52 games, 36.8mpg, 21.0ppg, 42%FG, 39.2%3pt, 6.3apg, 2.2spg, 22.71 PER

Just like DeMar, statistically—almost everything is up. Remember when people called Kyle Lowry injury prone? That’s now two seasons in a row with 52 games played prior to the all-star break. Kyle is in much better shape this year, he isn’t dogging it at the end of games and seems to always make timely buckets when the Raptors need it most. Kyle has also been a lot quicker on his feet defensively and never takes a play off.One important point to note is that last year while DeMar was out Kyle had to put the team on his back and that totally had him gassed come playoffs time—let’s hope both DeMar and Kyle can stay healthy this year. Will Kyle have enough gas in the tank?

“Got gold medals like Jonas Valanciunas”

Jonas Valanciunas 14-15’: 51 games, 26.4mpg, 12.2ppg, 56.1%FG, 8.6rpg, 1.2bpg, 20.4 PER

Jonas Valanciunas 15-16’: 35 games, 26.2mpg, 12.3ppg, 54.9%FG, 9.4rpg, 1.2 bpg, 21.8 PER

They say big men take the longest to develop, they also say Karl Anthony Towns is already way better than JV — point is, this has to be his year. After signing a large extension ($64M/4yrs), the team has shown full commitment in the growth and development of JV. Jonas is still not able to average 30mpg, last year we could blame Chuck Hayes (lol), this year it’s Big BIZness. To be fair, Jonas suffered a serious hand injury this year and has still been trying to figure it all out. His last game against Minnesota, he seemed to have reinjured his hand and then followed it up with a lack of confidence type play — where he practically moved away from the ball and took only 4 shots. I expect a big post all-star break season for Jonas. This year DeMar has even been looking to get JV going, which did not occur much at all in the the 14-15’ season. What are some numbers you guys expect JV to have post all-star break?

Mr.Ross

rossy

Terrence Ross 14-15’: 52 games, 25.9mpg, 10.5ppg, 41.6%FG, 36.9%3pt, 3.2rpg, 0.6spg,  11.5 PER

Terrence Ross 15-16’: 46 games, 23.8mpg, 9.2ppg, 44.5%FG, 38.6%3pt, 2.4rpg, 0.8spg,  12.85 PER

I’ve been very critical about Terrence Ross. I even wrote an article about him calling him the $31.5M Mistake (referring to his extension).  Ross has been quite an enigma, he shows long periods of inconsistency and then random spurts of solid play. What makes Ross even more unbearable to several Raptor fans is the fact that Andre Drummond (drafted after Ross) is playing like a stud. But for the first time in a long while I am here to be not on the Anti-Ross side but the Pro-Ross side. In his past three games Terrence has been averaging 13.8ppg (50%FG, 40%3pt) all while playing some hard nose defense (“Look at him move those puppies” –Jack Armstrong). If Ross can provide this type of production consistently off the bench, he’s in my good books and it will probably allow for the other starters to get some much deserved rest. Do you guys think Terrence Ross is going to break out post all-star break? Shrey talks about why Ross has been so good in the video below.

Thanks for checking out this article.

NBA PICKS ATS – SATURDAY JANUARY 30TH 2016

SBB - JAN 30th

NBA Picks Against The Spread – Saturday January 30th 2016

As promised, the Super Basketball Bros have their picks in for tonights games. We will post our picks every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Who’s Hot

Shrey and I (Dan) are both tied with the highest record against the spread to date this season. Both of us are 20-18-1 making us just slightly over .500. We will both look to improve our record with 2 very confident picks tonight. Shrey has Toronto -7.5 and will ride with the Raptors who are currently riding their longest winning streak in franchise history. I am going with the hottest team in the NBA this season taking on the worst team in the NBA; Golden State -17.5. Feeling pretty confident about this pick and I have 5.5 units on the line.

Who’s Cold

Although Kage managed to get a win yesterday he is still the worst BRO by far. His win % record is still lower than Drummonds FT % and until he is above his FT% i don’t think we can take him out of the Cold section of this post. Still a fade in my books.

Be sure to check out our latest Podcast and YouTube video which will be posted later on this evening

NBA PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD – FRIDAY JANUARY 29TH 2016

It’s that time of the week; the Super Basketball Bros will give there FREE NBA Picks against the spread over the next 3 days. Be sure to stop by during those 3 days for the latest picks.

Who’s Hot

I (Dan) went 3-0 last week making over $1000 dollars. This is the second time this year that I have swept the weekend with 3 wins and I will try to do it again this weekend as well. I feel confident about my pick tonight; 208 points seems a bit high for the Cavs and Pistons so I will take the under. Shrey is 3-2 in his last 5; he’s been hovering around .500 all year long and will try to start another hot streak tonight.

Who’s Cold

Kage has been having an awful year. To put it in perspective his winning percentage (29%) is lower than Andre Drummonds free throw percentage (35%). Kage has “Fade” stamped on his picks for the time being.

Good luck with your picks if you don’t choose to use ours

As promised we will post our picks every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The BROS are hitting over 75% in there last 4 weeks which are stats people pay for; and we are giving our picks for FREE

Who’s Hot:

Everyone is doing well as of right now. Dan redeemed himself with 2 straight big wins to put him in first place with respect to both record and profit. Shrey lost a big bet last night but is still doing well in his last 7+ picks. Likewise, Kage also lost a bet yesterday but has been hot as of late to still make him in the Hot category.

Be sure to check out our latest podcast which can be seen on our YouTube channel, it will also be available for RSS feed as well via iTunes in the next 24 hours.

NBA PICKS – AGAINST THE SPREAD – JANUARY 23 2016

SBB - JAN 23rD

NBA Picks Against the Spread – Saturday January 23rd 2016

Last night the Super Basketball Bros went 3 for 3 with all of their picks and are looking to continue their hot streak tonight. For the record the Super Basketball Bros have hit over 80% of their picks over the last 4 weeks which are stats that people pay for; and we are giving them for FREE!

Who’s Hot

Shrey and Kage lead the way for the Super Basketball Bros team only losing 3 times in the last 4 weeks. Kage is really chopping his debt down and is inching closer to breaking even! Shrey is safely in the profit side for at least one week and will look to increase his profit tonight. Shrey has the biggest wager of all the BROS tonight with a $330 dollar bet on the Knicks to win by at least 1 point.

Who’s Cold

2 weeks ago Dan went 3-0 over the weekend but he followed that up with a 0-3 record last weekend. So far this weekend he is 1-0 +$500 but he is technically cold right now with a record of 2-3 against the spread in his last 5. Dan will try and improve this record tonight but he will have to do it by betting against Shrey who is currently the hottest BRO. Someone has to lose tonight….

If you choose to use our picks we hope they can win you some money; otherwise, good luck with your picks tonight!

Dan

NBA PICKS ATS – FRIDAY JANUARY 22ND 2016

SBB - JAN 22ND

NBA Picks Against the Spread – January 22nd 2016

It’s that time of the week folks! The weekend is here and that means the Super Basketball Bros are ready to give you some FREE NBA picks against the spread.

Whos’ Hot

Shrey and Kage have been doing well with there picks lately. Kage has reduced his debt by almost $1000 dollars over the last 2 weeks and Shrey is finally back into the green profit side after being red for nearly 3 weeks. Both of these guys have larger than normal picks tonight so take that with a sign of confidence. The Super Basketball Bros team has been on fire lately hitting close to 80% of their picks in the last 3 weeks! Shrey has lead the way for the BROS and he is definitely the hottest BRO right now.

Who’s Cold

After having a great weekend going 3-0 against the spread +$1500 2 weekends ago; last weekend was a complete 180 degree turn. Dan went 0-3 losing $1540 total. Dan is in the red for the first time this season but is looking to rebound in a big way with another massive $550 dollar bet tonight. He going to side with Kage tonight and take the Clippers -1.5 on the road. He’s feeling really confident with this one!

Good luck with your bets tonight and if you use our bets we hope to make you some money!

The Best of the West: San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors

InstasizeImage

While everyone’s preoccupied with the theatrics of the Curry-led Golden State Warriors, the Spurs have quietly played their way to a 36-6 start. Both teams are currently chasing the all-time single season record of 72-10 by the ‘95-96 Chicago Bulls, with the Warriors holding a slight edge, record-wise, at 39-4. While the Warriors are coming off a week where they lost to the Nuggets and Pistons, they have just begun to get healthier with the return of Harrison Barnes. While the Warriors are heavy favourites to repeat as champions, it’s very easy to see why the Spurs are likely to upend the Warriors in the West with the off-season addition of LaMarcus Aldridge. The Spurs have quietly reeled off a 10 game winning streak and have one of the best defences in the NBA holding opponents to 89.6 points per game. With both teams having championship aspirations and are likely to meet each other come the Western Conference finals *knocks on wood*. Let’s see what they’ll have to do to finish the season strong.

Backcourt Play of Klay Thompson

This is key if Golden State wants to run their fast-paced, 3-point shooting offence, without error. The backcourt duo of Curry and Thompson take the most 3s in the NBA at 20 a game and are hitting 43% of them!! However, in the 4 warriors’ losses, Thompson shot 38% from the field and 28% from 3 point territory. Thompson is a huge part of the Warriors success and having him on the floor gives Curry more space to manoeuvre. With the return of Barnes, who was on FIRE before an ankle sprain cost him over a month, it should take some pressure of Thompson and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of the old Thompson. (watch this video and you’ll know what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT7o2S9SKMk)

Frontcourt Play of LeMarcus Aldridge

The Spurs #1 off-season acquisition has had a tough time finding his role within the Spurs offence but hasn’t let it become a distraction to the team. Despite these early struggles, the Spurs continued to win games with the break-out play of Kawhi Leonard. In the 6 Spurs loses, Aldridge has shot a combined 42% from the field and has had a tough time getting touches in the offence. To add more fuel to the fire, in 5 of those loses the Spurs lost by 6 points or less with 4 games being lost by a margin of 3 points! As of late, LaMarcus has become more assertive within the Spurs offence and usually, when he’s clicking, the Spurs offence is at its best! The Spurs will need a more consistency from Aldridge if they hope to make a big push in the competitive western conference.

Warriors’ Fast-Paced Offence

The Warriors own the NBA’s best offence and score on average 115 points a game. Their offence is focused on setting picks to free up shooters like Curry, Thompson and Barnes. This formula has worked for them as they shoot the most 3s in the NBA and also hit them at the highest rate of 42% (the next closest team hits 37% of 3s!). Now what’s concerning is that in the 4 Warrior loses, the team collectively has shot 34% from beyond the arc. But then again, we are talking about 4 games out of 43 and if not for some of the injuries, Barnes missed all 4 losses and Curry missed 1, the Warriors might still be undefeated. It’s very evident that the Warriors’ success relies on their 3 point efficiency and teams will look to put their best defenders on Thompson and Curry in order to slow down their offence.

Spurs Physical Defence

The Spurs, on the other hand, have earned the distinction as the NBA’s #1 defence, as they are holding opponents to a measly 89 points per game. The Klaw aka Kawhi Leonard has been the biggest reason behind the Spurs success on the defensive end, with averages of 2 steals and a block per game. The Spurs have always relied on a good defensive scheme in the Popovich era and when you have the luxury of starting one of the all-time greatest defensive players in Tim Duncan, you can see why the Spurs continue to have success year-after-year. However, in the 6 losses, the Spurs defence has allowed opponents to score 100 points a game. Mind you, they have lost to some of the tougher teams in the East and West, but if the Spurs want to push for the home-court advantage, they will need to continue their strong defensive play.

Both teams have dominated the NBA this season on different ends of the court and are currently undefeated at home through the mid-way point of the season. With the 2 teams set to meet 4 times, including January 25th, we’ll get a taste of what the conference finals could look like.
